London (UK): Cyber security consultancy MWR InfoSecurity has published its online pre-event challenge created for attendees at next month’s Security BSides London. The community-driven event, aimed at those in the cyber security sector, will take place on Wednesday 8 June at London’s ILEC Conference Centre (47 Lillie Road, SW6 1UD.)
Artfully created by MWR, the challenge offers just a picture as a clue and invites challengers to help find the plans of evil genius Max Pwanage to stop him doing ‘something of great and terrible significance.’ On offer is a Yard Stick One with the winner crowned on the day. To find out more visit BSides Challenge Page.
During the event, MWR InfoSecurity has also devised a further Boolean Argument for attendees to tackle that will require logic to place blocks of gates in the available slots in order to generate a match for a sequence provided – a Makeblock IR Robot Kit will be the spoils for the ultimate victor.
As part of the educational talks, MWR’s Consultants will deliver three key sessions. Nick Jones will take attendees bug hunting with the use of static code analysis, Dr. David Chismon will be asking if you can catch more spies with Honey(pots) and Robert Miller will be diving into the security of LoRa and the LoRaWAN protocol, to demonstrate its limitations, and to show how developers can build secure LoRa solutions. In addition, Rob Miller and Joel Clark will also run a workshop to cover the theory and application of clock glitching attacks, and apply them to vulnerable hardware to generate proof of concept exploits.
"It is great to see a sponsor like MWR InfoSecurity invest and give back to the cyber security community. Every year they enhance the BSides London experience bringing even more interesting and mind boggling challenges." Thomas Fischer, BSides London.
MWR’s Technical Director - Martyn Ruks, added, “We’re proud to be sponsoring BSides London again this year as it’s an event that everyone in MWR looks forward to. At MWR we invest heavily in research and knowledge sharing. We believe that events such as BSides London are invaluable to the community, providing a platform for discussion on the latest research in the cyber security arena. So we’re excited to be part of what is a must-attend event in the cyber security calendar. Not forgetting the fact that we will be debuting this year’s MWR t-shirt, so come and get yours!”
MWR InfoSecurity will once again be buying the beers at the BSides after party in a local pub – collect a wristband from MWR’s booth to gain entry.
