'More for less' is a message with which today's CCTV managers are all too familiar. Everyone wants to not only maintain the current CCTV operation but to enhance it - and migrating from the analogue world to a digital, IP-focused world is seen as a means to achieving this. However, the financing to make it happen isn't always available but there cannot be any compromise on quality. Budget constraints are leading many Local Authorities to review the cost of their CCTV operations and opt for perceived lower cost options but, with so much at stake, who wants to take unnecessary risks? Wireless CCTV has become an increasingly acceptable option. Is there a way to maximise existing investment in fixed infrastructure that will deliver a roadmap towards IP, reduce overall costs and provide a platform for future revenue generation?
