London: Nuix, a technology company that enables people to make fact-based decisions from unstructured data, has appointed experienced digital forensics investigator Chris Pogue as Senior Vice President for Cyber Threat Analysis. Pogue brings experience with Trustwave SpiderLabs, the IBM/ISS X-Force incident response and ethical hacking teams and the US Army Signal Corps to Nuix’s growing cybersecurity team.
“In my 14 years as a forensics investigator and instructor, I almost always preferred open source tools and the command line over commercial software, but all that changed when I saw Nuix in action,” said Pogue. “I am thrilled to be part of the Nuix team and could not be more excited about helping to apply Nuix’s capabilities to digital forensics and incident response.”
Nuix’s forensic investigation and collection technologies are already used in cybersecurity breach investigations worldwide. Nuix is also an industry partner of ITU-IMPACT, the cybersecurity executing arm of the United Nations, and delivers training seminars and regional cyber drills to help ITU-IMPACT’s member states develop their ability to combat cybercrime.
To help organizations fill an important gap in their cyber-defenses, Nuix is developing a range of targeted solutions to accomplish tasks such as:
· Analyzing storage and communication systems to identify and secure high-value private, health, financial and personal data.
· Examining complex containers such as email databases and archives to identify anomalous files that could be used in a data breach.
· Collecting and processing any volume of log, event and time-sensitive data to rapidly identify the source and extent of a breach, find out what happened next and start the remediation process.
· Building and sharing libraries of breach and threat intelligence that will help organizations defend their systems and valuable data better over time.
Nuix is working with complementary vendors in the information security industry with the aim of jointly developing solutions that use the Nuix Engine’s capabilities under an OEM model.
“Chris’s deep forensics expertise and experience across thousands of breach investigations are a welcome addition to the Nuix cybersecurity team and we’re really looking forward to working with him,” said Dr. Jim Kent, Global Head of Investigations & Security and CEO, EMEA
