Web-based Assessment Powered by Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) demonstrated at recent Microsoft Careers Fair
London, UK: The SANS Institute has demonstrated its new CyberTalent Assessment service at the recent Microsoft Careers Fair held on the 15th June 2013 in London. The Careers Fair which attracted over 500 registrations was co-organised by the Cyber Security Challenge UK, a not for profit organisation whose aim is to bring more people into the Cyber Security Profession.
During the event, SANS ran a CyberTalent Skills Assessment Quiz from which Craig Rice, an Information Security Analyst, came out on top of the skills assessment competition. The CyberTalent Assessments are used by organizations globally as a technical skills assessment for job applicants and also as a training needs analysis tool for understanding the cyber skills of existing team members. The Assessments helps Recruitment and HR professionals and recruitment agencies to save time, reduce administrative efforts and increase the pool of qualified candidates.
Powered by Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), SANS CyberTalent Assessments can provide benchmarks across many information security domains including Communications Security, Internet Security, Networking Concepts and Operating Systems Security.
Craig had this to say about the CyberTalent Assessment: "The assessment drew on a broad range of technical areas, from evidential integrity, to network packet analysis to malware techniques. I really enjoyed it!"
“Understanding the suitability of potential InfoSec candidates and also the level of training they may require is a critical requirement for every organisation,” explains Tom Carver, Director – SANS CyberTalent, “Creating a shortlist is a complex and time consuming task, even if the recruiter is a subject matter expert. Instead the CyberTalent Assessments offer the best way to accurately verify the job applicant’s technical knowledge and help create a benchmark for a particular role.”
Over 50,000 students have gained GIAC certifications worldwide and CyberTalent is able to draw on thousands of reference questions from an assessment framework that is continually evolving in line with the security and regulatory landscape. SANS CyberTalent Assessments are currently being used by a number of organisations in EMEA and the U.S.
