LONDON, UK: Varonis Systems, Inc. has been included in Gartner’s new Magic Quadrant for Enterprise File Synchronisation and Sharing (EFSS).
Varonis is one of 16 vendors included in the new Gartner Magic Quadrant, which assesses both “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute” to help organisations select the most appropriate products to meet their needs. Varonis has been evaluated for its DatAnywhere offering, a secure enterprise file sync and sharing solution. “The market for EFSS has grown rapidly since 2010, with more than 140 players originating from a variety of markets and technology backgrounds having different approaches and business models,” Gartner states, defining the category this way: “EFSS (Enterprise File Synchronisation and Sharing) refers to a range of on-premises or cloud-based capabilities that enable individuals to synchronize and share documents, photos, videos and files across multiple devices, such as smartphones, tablets and PCs. Sharing can happen between people (for example, partners and customers) within or outside the organisation, or on a mobile device, as data sharing among apps. Access to files in enterprise repositories (such as file servers and content platforms) from mobile devices or remote PCs extends user productivity and collaboration to modern use cases. Security and collaboration support are critical aspects for enterprises to adopt EFSS.” As context, Gartner asserts, “EFSS has become a priority for organisations to enable a modern, digital workplace for employees, partners and even clients. Organisations are increasingly investing in enterprise-class capabilities such as EFSS, which complement mobile productivity and collaboration features with data protection, security and compliance. Initially, organisations aim to stem the widespread usage of personal cloud services at work and the relative threats.”
David Gibson, Vice President at Varonis, said, “We developed DatAnywhere with a vision of removing the tension between employee mobility and accessibility of the vast intellectual capital stored in existing file shares, and heightened security risks. These are two of the most important and often conflicting challenges faced by IT executives. With DatAnywhere, enterprises can now have the same functionalities as cloud-based EFSS on for all or part of their existing file share data without moving it or changing it. We are thrilled to be recognised in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for EFSS for the first time, as we build on the momentum that DatAnywhere has achieved in its first two years.”
